Now you can nominate a local sports dad in the local community to give him a chance to be crowned the Community Sports Dad of the Year.
It can be your own dad, or a dad that is helping the local sports club, or coaching the junior teams, or even just the dad that puts an extra big hit on for his kids watching on in a competitive game.
The Sports Dad of the Year award is designed to highlight dads in the community who inspire their children and those in the town around them.
Former finalists in the national competition include Socceroo star Tim Cahill, AFL players Sam Mitchell and Luke Hodge, NRL stalwarts Cameron Smith and Jonathan Thurston, two-time Grand Slam winning tennis champion Lleyton Hewitt, captain of the Kookaburras Mark Knowles and one of the world’s best batsmen, David Warner.
To nominate a dad in Mudgee, Gulgong or the surrounding region head online to sportsdads.com.au/community and explain in 100 words or less why you think your chosen sports dad should take the crown.
The Community Sports Dad of the Year winner will be provided with a $5,000 Rebel Sports voucher to donate to his sporting club of choice for some new gear or sporting equipment.
Nominations and entries end on Sunday, August 20, and the winner will be announced before Father's Day, Sunday, September 3.
