CSU Yellow’s defence was strong enough to allow Kandos just one try in the game, which was scored by Carlee Vanderhaar.
The Tiara-Tahs will take on CSU Blue in the elimination match to keep their finals series alive.
The Blue team are coming off of a tight win over Villagettes, scoring the one-and-only try in the contest and, despite knuckling down to semi-final football.
The 22-4 win by CSU Yellow moves them on to the main semi-final against Wallerawang.
In the men’s games, CSU gave the university teams three wins on the day with their win over Villages United making it a clean sweep of their matches.
The students showed they were peaking at the right time of the season have thrown out a challenge to minor premiers Wallerawang Warriors for 2017 premiership honours.
Villages now have a tightrope walk to get to the grand final, all their games being sudden-death situations, beginning in next week’s match with Orange Barbarians.
At Portland, in the elimination semi-final, after leading 12-6 at halftime the Barbarians’ 36-6 win ended Portland Colts’ year, Orange’s victory giving them a second life, to play Villages United in this week’s elimination minor semi-final.
It’s three weeks out from the New Era Midwest Cup grand final and with the table-topping Wallerawang sides to play their first matches the finals race is set to heat up further.
