Last-year’s grand finalists were shut out to the tune of 18 to nil.
CSU Yellow made it two from two for the club, stunning minor premiers Wallerawang Warriors in the major semi-final by the surprisingly high score of 38 to nil.
They’ve already booked a grand final spot and now CSU Blue now face the beaten Wallerawang for the remaining spot.
In the men’s major semi-final at Wallerawang the Warriors defeated CSU 19 to 14 to progress to the 2017 grand final, their big advantage being that the New Era Midwest Cup decider will now be contested on their home turf.
At the same time at Bathurst’s Paddys Field the elimination semi-final saw last year’s premiers Villages United’s season ended by Orange Barbarians 30 to 16 and, by virtue of the victory the Barbarians will take on CSU for a grand final spot.
