Mayso’s punched their ticket to the revenge-showdown by downing Hairy Globetrotters in the mid-week preliminary finals, taking out the win with a 66-49 scoreline.

The Globetrotters came out of the gates in emphatic fashion, scoring off the tip off through Jeremy Best, with Jono Tatham capitalising off the shock-factor to add another bucket.

Mayso’s Pro Shop were red-hot favourites for a reason however, and Peter Mayson put their first points on the board, adding three two points to take the lead 6-5.

Although it was a close first quarter, and the Globetrotters fought tooth and nail to stay in the contest, the Pro Shop stretched out their lead to 14-7 heading into the first break.

Although the second quarter saw a 15-13 point split, once again in favour of the Pro Shop, the lead extended to a 9-point margin as the first half of the preliminary final came to an end.

The Pro Shop began to slowly take control of the game in the third period, and although the Globetrotters valiantly tried to defy the attack they couldn’t hold out against the relentless pressure that Mayso’s brought to bear.

The Pro Shop bagged the 18-9 third quarter lead, extending their control with the 18-point lead heading into the last quarter of the preliminary finals.

Although Mayso’s were able to close out the game in the lead, it was a massive point haul for both teams as the Globetrotters went all out to try and run down the long lead.

They won the final quarter 20-19, but the seventeen point lead for Mayso’s turned out to be unassailable, and they now are set to face the Crystal Clear Rams in the season decider.

B-Grade saw The Reds move on to the grand final for the division, and are set to play Country Physio on the weekend.
