Relentless first half defence paved the way for Mayso’s success, as Liam Young, Dean Saxby and Peter Mayson all capitalised on the efforts to give the title-hopefuls a ten point lead heading into the half time break.
The Rams had also notched a great count in the first half however, with Ben Edmunds and Zac Burley keeping the Rams in the game after the two quarters.
The third quarter saw the Crystal Clear Rams come back into the fight, as a series of fouls gave the Rams six free shots – all scored – and it was clear that Mayso’s had come off the boil in the third stanza.
Their 12-point lead in the final quarter was a mountain peak too high to climb for the Rams, but it wasn’t through lack of trying in the final quarter of the decider.
Burley and Nathan Martyn both scored early buckets for the eventual runners-up for the season, and the side looked to close the gap and potentially send the game into overtime.
Mayso’s just weren’t on the same page however, and Young and Mayson combined beneath the bucket to keep the Rams at bay.
Although the Rams did outscore the PropShop 15-8 in the final quarter, a resurgent effort, it simply wasn’t enough to mitigate the first half success of the champions, who raised the trophy for another year.
