The team from Real FM and 2MG are finalists in five categories for the 29th Australian Commercial Radio Awards (ACRAs) to be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on Friday, October 13.
Real FM’s afternoon announcer Andrew Andrews is a finalist in three Country categories; Best Achievement in Production, Best Sales Promotion, and Best Community Service Project.
He shares the Sales category with Jenny Burrows – who is also up for Best Newcomer Off Air – and the Community Service category is shared with Mel Heldon, Craig Bassett, and Mal Rock.
2MG, the Super Radio Network-owned station, will also compete for Best Music Special – with Chris Mills and Craig Bassett listed as the finalists.
Station manager Mal Rock has put the nominations down to, “having a go at everything”.
“There’s a lot of ‘get involved’ people in our area and that really helps and keeps us doing interesting things,” he said.
Real FM breakfast announcer Mel Heldon said, “we don’t do it to get awards, but to have someone say ‘that was good’ always feels nice.”
