The awards are an initiative of the Mudgee Disability Sports Inclusion Working Group, made up of Ability Links, The Benevolent Society and the Office of Sport. The awards are presented at the annual Mudgee Sports Council Awards Night.
The four award categories are:
- Disability Inclusive Sports Club Award
- Disability Inclusion Volunteer Award
- Junior Athlete with a Disability Sportsmanship Award
- Senior Athlete with a Disability Sportsmanship Award
The Senior and Junior Athlete with a Disability Sportsmanship awards are not about sporting performance and achievement, but about attitude, enthusiasm, and inspiring other people with a disability to get active.
Nominations for the sports club award may be submitted for any organised physical activity provider, including mainstream sporting clubs or businesses.
The Volunteer Award is for any individual who goes above and beyond to welcome and include people with a disability into their organisation’s activities.
People may submit online at sportandrecreation.nsw.gov.au/clubs/awards or by calling (02) 6362 6623 for a nomination form. Nominations close November 30.
