More than 1,900 customers had their power supply interrupted this morning (Thursday) after a semi-trailer carrying a bulldozer brought down powerlines on the corner of Short and Church streets in Mudgee.

Manager community relations Northern, David Crough, said power was switched off to 1,919 homes and business at 7.22am because of the incident.
“Crews responded immediately to ensure the safety of the public and their property and then to restore power as quickly as possible for those affected, David said.
“Power was restored to affected homes and businesses about 20 minutes later once network repairs had been completed.”
If a vehicle contacts the power network, contact Essential Energy immediately on 13 20 80. Occupants should remain in the vehicle until power has been isolated and it is safe to exit.
“If there is immediate danger, such as a fire, occupants are advised to jump clear of the vehicle – avoiding contact with the ground and vehicle at the same time – and then hop or shuffle with both feet together until at least eight metres away,” David said.
“For their own safety, it is extremely important that the public always treats fallen powerlines as live.”
