With Israel Folau taking a break from rugby for the rest of the year, the Wallabies need a replacement fullback for their tour of Japan and the UK.

Hunt, who wore the No.15 jersey against the Barbarians, has the inside running to take Folau's position and Beale has thrown his support behind him.

Beale, Australia's incumbent inside-centre, flourished this year alongside five-eighth Bernard Foley and it would be beneficial to keep that 10-12 combination intact.

If Hunt does play fullback, Beale is adamant the number on their backs will be insignificant given how interchangeable their positions will be.

Michael Cheika likes to have Beale defending at fullback and given Hunt is a very solid defender at No.12, he could easily do a job there.

Having both Beale and Hunt as second receiver options adds another dimension to the Wallabies' attack, something that would be a first given the pair have never played a game of rugby together.

"For a defensive line to see different faces in around that playmaking spot, helping Bernard out, that can only be a bit of a danger zone for the opposition," Beale told Fairfax Media. "Karmichael and I are pretty similar players. We've got a really good understanding of what's required in both positions. For both of us we can have that roving role and slot in and help Bernard and show different faces at different points. That's only a positive.

"At different points in the game you'll see - if K's at fullback - him and myself swapping. Our shape allows us to pop in and out and rove."

Beale agrees with Cheika that Folau will come back from his break rejuvenated and a better player, even if he has just had arguably his best season in rugby to date.

"The decision he has made is the right one for himself and I'm sure he'll come back fighting bigger and stronger next year," Beale said. "You want him firing for next year and leading into the World Cup. Time off will freshen him up. He's the ultimate professional. I'm sure he's had long chats with our strength and conditioning coaches."

Beale did not travel with the Wallabies on the spring tour last year because of a serious knee injury.

He then starred for UK Premiership side Wasps, leading them to the semi-finals before injuring himself once again.

After making the decision to leave Australian rugby, Beale said it was hard to not be able to join his Wallabies teammates in the northern hemisphere last November.

"When the boys were over there last year I felt like I was missing out on a lot and it made me realise how special it is being amongst this group and to be going back over there now a year later, I'm super excited," Beale said.

"It will be great to be able to go up against England. They're No.2 at the moment and we want to challenge ourselves. As a group it's is going to be a great opportunity for us. I have a good understanding of what is going to be coming at us. Hopefully we can have an advantage there."

Meanwhile, Rugby Australia has not made a final decision on whether the Indigenous jersey worn for the final Bledisloe Cup Test will be worn again next year.

There is every indication that will indeed happen but there is a push for it be worn more than once a year.

Beale said he was overwhelmed by the support for the jersey in the past fortnight.

"Paying respects to our first people is something we hold very close and I hold it very close to my heart being a proud Indigenous man," Beale said. "I know the boys are fully behind it, there is a lot of support there. A lot of the fans are sharing their thoughts about continuing wearing the jersey. It's a matter of getting set dates out on it. I think it was a huge success."
