Justine Annette Lang has been a popular Hairdresser and Barber at the Bridge View Inn. After eight years she is sadly leaving Rylstone to look after her mum. Justine’s mother has early stage dementia and needs personal care. Justine said, “I am leaving with a heavy heart. I love each and every one of you, as if you were part of my own family. I am so thankful for the opportunity to get to know so many of you. You each have an intriguing background and I feel like I have learned a lot about life from the stories and advice that you have offered me throughout the year. Each one of you has taught me a lesson in life. My last day will be December 15 and Alicia Kerney will take over on the 16th with ‘Heritage Hairdressing Rylstone’. On Sunday, November 26 at the back of the Bridge View Inn I will be having a BBQ for my customers and friends. It is to say thank you for your support over the years. The BBQ starts at twelve and Bring Your Own Drinks and a chair.” Justine would love to see everyone there!

Free Trees

Thank you to the NSW Teachers Federation for the Tree Levy Grant for our school. The grant was used to enhance the front of our school with new gardens. During the September school holidays, parents, students and staff worked to build the garden. Thank you to Trent O’Brien, Craig Parsons, Anthony Evans, Lee Kahler, Greg Jamieson, Julie Parsons, Terry Yates, Nick Nassis and James Armitage for their time and effort. Fine Art at Gallery 47

Intricate and interesting the oil pastel work of Lisa Kennedy pleased all, at her opening night at Gallery 47, Rylstone. Lisa, originating from Grafton, is a veterinarian in Mudgee, as well as a talented artist. Lisa also does pet portraits and private commissions.

Hospital Art

Local Aboriginal artists are invited to submit a portfolio of their work to be considered for the Rylstone Multipurpose Service’s Aboriginal Signage and Artwork project. Featuring local Aboriginal artwork in the MPS is an opportunity both for the artist to showcase their work and to be a part of our hospital and community. The proposed artwork will involve song/line mural style artwork to link the entrance and areas such as wards and X-Ray within the facility. Expression of interest includes a two stage selection process. Short listed artists will participate in a site visit prior to preparing full proposals. Submissions must be received either by email to fiona.ostini@health.nsw.gov.au or in a physical portfolio delivered to the Rylstone Hospital front office by 4.30pm Thursday, November 30.

Historical Trash and Treasure

The light rains last Saturday didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the stallholders at the Rylstone Historical Society’s Trash and Treasure. Thirteen stalls and a BBQ plied for trade offering a wide range of goods. The area beside the Bridge View Inn near the Rylstone Museum is ideal for the market.
