The tournament has raised over $100,000 since its start date and founder Peter Mayson is stoked with the amount of early applicants for next year’s competition.
“We’ve already had a fantastic response from teams nominating early for next year’s event,” Mayson said.
“Most of these players haven’t missed a year since the classic began in 2012.
“The day always raises a significant amount of money for charity which is great.”
The classic wouldn’t be possible without the backing from Moolarben Coal and general manager Steve Archinal acknowledged what a great cause it is.
“We are proud to play a role in making a positive difference to the people in our community by raising funds,” Archinal said.
“We are confident all golfers involved are gearing up for a strong game in 2018.”
The Molarben Coal Celebrity Golf Classic is held on the first Friday of February and traditionally attracts more than 30 teams to compete in a unique six-person Ambrose format.
The day kicks of at Mudgee’s championship par 71 course, followed by an evening of dinner and entertainment at the Mudgee Golf Club.
