The boys paired up for the main race which was held under a two-person relay format and finished the course in 40.58 - over a minute faster than the runners up (Brendan Sutton and Mark Roth).
It’s no shock a pair of teenagers took out Sunday's main event as they’ve intensified their training regime recently with the help of junior coach Brendan Sutton.
The winter regime included up to, and sometimes more than five sessions per week and according to president Matt Webster they’ve improved “quite a bit” since starting those sessions.
In addition to being club president, Matt Webster is a perennial contender at club and inter-club events and was impressed with the composure shown by the boys.
“When I was out racing I was really happy to see Guy jump on my wheel and start racing with me.”
“I was hoping Guy would do that. It means he’s got the tactics to go with his fitness,” Webster said.
Riding behind someone or ‘drafting’ is a common method cyclists use to conserve energy and avoid wind.
Following the main event was the ‘Simplyfit supersprint’, previously known as the ‘short course’ event.
Lewis Roth (25.06), Beau Rohr (25.12) and Conor Whale (25.20) made up an all-junior podium for the men’s category, while Sian Potter (26.47), Alesha Bennetts (27.45) and Tania Potter (28.20) placed for the women.
As always, the Little Devils had their runaround afterwards.
Matt Webster and the Red Devils will turn their attention to Cowra’s inter-club event which is set for Sunday January 21.
