Mudgee chief inspector Jeff Boon said police were generally very pleased with the results of the operation with only the one incident.
A 22 year old Mudgee man was arrested and charged with assaulting an officer in the execution of duty and resisting an officer in the execution of duty at a late night venue.
He will appear in Mudgee local court on March 7 and is subject to strict Police Bail Conditions.
Chief inspector Boon said a small number of people were 'moved on' due to intoxication and their behaviour.
“Police would like to remind people that might be in a situation where a Police dog is present; they should never attempt to pat or approach the dog,” he said.
“Police would like to thank the hotels and bars, security and patrons for their cooperation, overwhelming support for the operation and friendly attitudes.”
Chief inspector Boon explained police from Orana Mid-Western Target Action Group, some based in Dubbo, were utilised for the operation.
The NSW Police restructure, involving the merger of the Orana and Mudgee Local Area Commands, was announced in November.
“This is the first example of the ease at which Mudgee can now draw on more resources than ever before to target crime, and in this case drug crime.”
Further Drug Dog operations are planned for Mudgee and other towns in the district. If anyone has information about drugs they are asked to contact Mudgee Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
