This is where the Mudgee Mudcrabs juniors are heading as they will send nine teams to Port Macquarie this weekend.
Although wins are always good, Mudgee touch spokesperson Ben Harris says the experience gained by the players in invaluable.
“We go there to try to improve skills and give the kids a bit of exposure to top quality touch football,” Harris said.
“It’s a tough slog for us sometimes.
“Some of the Sydney teams like Parramatta and Manly are very good but hopefully we can get a few wins on the board.”
It’s teams like Manly and Parramatta that act as a tool for the improvement of a lot of the junior touch players but Harris thinks some of the Mudgee sides will be hard to handle no matter who they play.
“The under 18s boys, coached by Andrew Laurie, are looking really good,” he said.
“Andrew’s got that young group together quite well.”
The cup kicks off on Friday.
