A TOTAL fire ban and severe fire danger has been declared for Bathurst and the Central Ranges due to forecast hot and windy conditions.

The ban is for Wednesday, February 14 and it will commence at midnight on Tuesday.
The total fire ban also covers areas including: Oberon, Blayney, Cabonne, Cowra, Lithgow, Mid-Western and Orange.
No fires may be lit in the open and all fire permits are suspended during a total fire ban.
Gas and electric barbecues may be used provided certain conditions are met.
The mercury is predicted to reach a top of 34 degrees in Bathurst on Wednesday, with winds due to pick up in the afternoon.
The NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) said under severe fire conditions:
- Well prepared homes that are actively defended can provide safety during a fire
- Follow your Bush Fire Survival Plan and remain vigilant
