Saturday morning was a busy scene as stall holders unpacked their wares outside the Anglican Church, in Angus Avenue. Preserves, herbs, vegies and many items of craft work were available.

New Staff
Kandos welcomes two teachers to the High School for 2018. Zoe Mizrachi, a Maths teacher from the Newcastle area, where she attended Newcastle University. Emma Kelson a Science Teacher from Whitebridge High School and is also trained to teach Music and Languages. Emma enjoys visiting Japan.
Local in India
Terry Burrow had an open studio in Kandos, last Saturday. An Exhibition titled, ‘Agent Orange’. This is a project based on the Hindu Monkey God, Hamuman and the particular orange pigment he is commonly painted.
Terry said, “As a painter I became interested in the pigment used for this colour and found it was predominantly red lead, a highly toxic material. Thus, presenting a parallel with Agent Orange, the defoliant used in the Vietnam War.” Terry’s paintings will be heading to India for exhibition in March and April at the Kriti Gallery, Varnasi.
Yum Cha Turns Ten
Amid the historic ambiance of the Bridge View Inn, more than seventy people and a Flamenco Band celebrated Na Lan’s Yum Cha tenth birthday. Also celebrating the Chinese New Year, both patrons Reg and Na Lan, were born in the ‘Year of the Dog’.
The ‘29nine99’ Yum Cha restaurant has been featured in Better Homes and Gardens, Sydney Weekender, Ben and Eddie Eat Australia, Get Away, Good Food Guide and Airline promotions.
Na Lan come from Beijing in 2001 and hard work has led to her success. Serenaded by the beautiful Spanish guitar ensemble, Arrebato, and Flamenco dancing the party goers were spoiled. Na Lan’s husband Reg Buckland gave an entertaining and witty speech with, many bad, dog puns.
Almost Anything
Louee Street, Rylstone has a new shop. The ‘Almost Everything Emporium’ was formed by a collective of local artists and culinary crafters. Open weekends 10am-3 the shop has ceramics, art works, painting, local olive oils, felting, jams, relishes, jewellery, books, clothing, handmade soaps and pedal powered smoothies. In the future the shop will be open more often and have ‘Special Displays’ of art works. Enthusiasm is the key to this delightful group of ladies.
