There were quality displays in all the pavilions and livestock sections. With the community showcasing their talent across many fields including pavilion entries in cooking, gardening, art and craft, knitting and photography. Feedback from the judges was the standard was very high and difficult to judge.
Federal Member Andrew Gee officiated the special occasion by opening the Show and presenting the new Junior Show Girls Hollie Smith and Sanayah Brackenrig their sashes.
After last year’s infamous duet with local Gulgong legend, Des Kelly, Andrew reunited with Des to sing a few tunes together to entertain the morning crowd.
Morgan Rae, the Senior Showgirl for 2018/19, and runner-up, Jacintha Leatherby, along with the 2017 and 2018 Junior Showgirls, were very busy throughout the day assisting and being involved with a number of events. Jacintha and 2017 Junior Showgirl, Sigrid Germon, especially enjoyed being part of the horse events.
Former Showgirl Lisa Byfield and runner-up Angela Flanagan were busy in the photography section and helping out in the pavilion throughout show week and especially on show day.
Highlights of the show included the Mid West Axemens Association’s Wood Chop and the Tractor Pull. The wood chop featured one of the best axemen in the world, Brad DeLosa. Having Brad take part in the event was a treat for not only the spectators but the axemen young and old. Young Lachlan Rice was excited to get some pro tips from Brad at the event.
Brad’s achievements include 2011 Team World Champion, 2013 World Individual Champion, 2014 Team World Champion, 2014/15 Champion of Champions, 2015 runner-up Australian Champion, and 2016 Australian Champion.
