Each year more than 7500 young people from around the world have a life-changing opportunity to live in another country for a year and view the world from a new perspective. Rotary’s Youth Exchange Program provides a challenge for young people to live with host families, attend school in another country, maybe learn another language and another way of living. And in the process learn a whole lot about themselves and experience great personal growth.

Mudgee students Eddie Rava and Jasmine Broadfoot have just completed 12 month exchanges – Eddie in Belgium and Jasmine in France. In reporting back to their sponsor Rotary Clubs they highlighted their gratitude to wonderful host families who provided safe family environments and great opportunities for travel. Eddie represented Australia in a wreath laying ceremony at the Menen Gate in Ypres, Belgium on Anzac Day. In contrast Jasmine loved spending part of her summer holidays in the French Alps. Both have become fluent speakers of French and plan to use this skill in the future.
