The arrest follows a rural crime investigation including officers from Bathurst, Mudgee and Windsor.
Police will allege the man stole eight Angus cows and eight Angus calves from a 71-year-old Oberon man. The cattle were stolen from the Oberon area in early February this year.
All of the stolen cattle have been recovered.
The Merrylands man has been granted strict bail to appear at the Lithgow Local Court on April 5. The maximum sentence for stealing cattle is 14 years imprisonment.
This arrest was the result of a combined effort from the Rural Crime Prevention Teams working across three Police Districts.
Detectives were assisted in this investigation by the timely report of the theft by the owner of the cattle, good farm management practices and crucial information from members of the public.
