Lifeskills Plus and Pioneer House each received $15,000 from the event, adding to the list of charities that have been given boosts over the years.

Mudgee junior golf and the Mudgee Men’s Shed were also aided by the event. However, a lot of these financial coups wouldn’t have been available without the event’s sponsors, Property Shop, Oriental Hotel, Ross Granata Motors and Mid State Smash Repairs.

Moolarben Coal General Manager Steve Archinal says it’s a pleasure to be a part of such an influential event that powers local charities each year.

“The Moolarben Coal Celebrity Golf Classic is a unique event that brings the Mudgee community together to provide much needed financial support for local not-for-profits groups,” Archinal said.

“It’s a great initiative with the ability to make a genuine difference.”

It’s not a function that’s put together overnight and Archinal took the time to express his appreciation towards the characters who keep making it possible.

“I also want to acknowledge the commitment of the organisers Peter Sterling, Ken Sutcliffe and Peter Mayson,” he said.

“They continue to ensure the day is a huge success year in, year out.

And what a success it is.

“The Classic has provided over $140,000 in funding over the last 5 years which is a tremendous effort.”
