UneARThed 2018 Art Show will be held at Gulgong’s Memorial Hall on the June long weekend (June 9-10) from 10am to 4pm each day.
This art show, showcases adult and children’s art, handicraft and sculpture.
This year, the Gulgong Arts Council have introduced four new sections.
- Digital art for adults and high school students,
- Big Hero and Little Hero comic drawing/story sections.
Big Hero and Little Hero sections are sponsored by K.I.T. Comics (Knife in Texas Comics – Darren Gallagher). These sections, open to school age children with fantastic prizes on offer, are a great opportunity for children to explore their imaginary Super Hero and write a brief about why their Super Hero is so special.
The Clyde Oakley Memorial Open Prize of $1,000, sponsored by Mrs. Helen Oakley, can be in any medium and is to interpret the person, the life or the work of Henry Lawson and does not necessarily need to be a portrait.
Best Exhibit (adult) prize of $1,000 and Best Exhibit (under 18) prize is $200.
The ‘Henry’s School Art Prize’ of $500 will again be closely contested. This creative contest between the region’s schools is one not to be missed. The partnership between Gulgong Arts Council, Red Hill Environmental Education Centre and Gulgong Men’s shed provides the schools a fantastic opportunity to win cash to go toward a project for their school.
UneARThed 2018 Art Show attracts artists from across the NSW central west region and as far away as Queensland, NSW Central Coast and the Blue Mountains.
