An award-winning biodynamic dairy on the Atherton Tablelands has launched a range of certified biodynamic flavoured milk. Under development for the past six months, Mungalli Creek Dairy at Millaa Millaa launched earlier this week Biodynamic Bliss, a full cream, lactose free product. There is no added sugar but probiotics have been added for gut health. Company founder Rob Watson said there was a gap in the market for high quality, premium milk drinks. “Our biodynamic farming practices and ability to apply innovative processes put us in a perfect position to create a new era of healthy drink options for the community,” Mr Watson said. Mungalli has been doing tastings over the last few weeks and has had great feedback from customers. Company spokeswoman Michelle Bell-Turner said the product’s sweetness came from the natural milk sugars. “These are much easier for the body to digest and to further enhance the health benefits of the product we have added live probiotic cultures,” she said. “We are excited to be offering the community new healthy beverage options as more and more children have allergies and health issues. “The combination of benefits and attributes that we have been able to achieve in this product is very unique and may even be a world first.” The Watson family has been farming biodynamically, an enhanced form of organic farming, for 30 years. They have a mixed herd of Jersey, Swiss Brown and Aussie Red cows. The quality of milk produced from their biodynamic pastures has been recognised nationally, with Mungalli Dairy products receiving accolades in national competitions. The company supports nine local family farms and employs more than 60 staff across their farms, on-farm café, on-farm manufacturing and distribution outlets in Cairns and Townsville.  The new product will hit retail stores this week.
