Among the activities for the week will be World Read Aloud Day on Wednesday, aiming to highlight the importance of having the skills to read.
For the last three years Rosie Gibbs and the staff of Mudgee Preschool have welcomed Year 5 and 6 students from St Matt’s to come and read to the youngsters.
This year they’ll also be visiting Squeakers and Imaginations.
Another Catholic Schools Week highlight will be the Buddy Bear Picnic on Tuesday for all students, Kindergarten to Year 10, designed to continue building a friendly school community without bullying.
Students are invited to bring a bear or stuffed toy and the older students will organise games and activities for the students to play in their House Colours - mixed groups of students of all ages.
Throughout the week of celebrations St Matt’s will also hold a Year 10 versus Staff mixed netball match on Monday afternoon and a Year 6 versus Staff mixed football match on Friday.
Thursday will be Year 7 Grandparents Day with mass, morning tea and a tour of the school, followed by a computer session for interested grandparents and parishioners.
That afternoon there will be Open School Classrooms and from 5 to 6.30pm. The Twilight Tour and Concert will also be held.
