Jacob Mick, who has autism and an intellectual disability, was able to check out the training session, meet the players and coach Ricky Stuart, and do some running and passing.
His souvenir from the day was a football signed by the Eels.
Mudgee Disability Support Services Team Leader, Lyn Harrop, said that both Jacob and the organisation were “over the moon” to be able to get an opportunity as rare as this.
“He was beside himself with excitement all day about getting to meet the players and go to the training session,” she said.
“Jacob hasn’t had an opportunity like this before. He has very good ball skills and loves football but because of his disability he can’t join any teams.
“Jacob expresses himself with actions so you could tell that he was loving it.”
Mudgee Disability Support Services thanked the Parramatta Eels for making their young client’s day on Saturday. The excitement continued the next day when he watched the game itself.
