The closure date for the Mudgee Bowling Club has been decided and the last day of trade at the site will be Saturday, February 28, 2015.
Bowling Club members have been informed of the closure by letters sent out this week.
The decision to close the club was announced in June 2014.
The new greens at Club Mudgee will be available to be played on from February 17, and maintenance will cease on the remaining green at the Bowling Club on February 20.
There will be seven rinks on each green at Club Mudgee, a total of 14, which can cater up to 112 players playing in teams of four.
Club Mudgee CEO Maureen Hutchison said that they’re looking forward to becoming the new home for the Bowling Club’s members.
“It will be the beginning of a new era and the management and staff at Club Mudgee are looking forward to welcoming the bowlers to their new home,” she said.
President of the Mudgee Bowling Club Anthony Rich said “it’s disappointing but the decision has been made” and added that the big picture is about keeping bowls in Mudgee.
“It’s disappointing and sad, because the club has been there a lot of years, but it’s one of those things,” he said.
“I’m sure that we will lose some members but that’s their decision.
“I hope that the move is successful, I’m sure it will be, as long as we can keep bowls going in Mudgee that’s the main aim – it would be no good to lose it all together.”
Ms Hutchison said that the board and management are working on a farewell event to the old Bowling Club to take place before the closure.
