The Championships showcase Mudgee District’s best tennis players with this year’s Championships to feature Ladies Doubles, Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles.
Just like the Australia Open, teams play in a knock-out style competition until the best of the best are left to battle it out in the finals.
However, teams that are knocked out in the early stages are eligible to enter into the round-robin Plate competition that will run over the course of the weekend which means anyone who enters is guaranteed to play some great tennis over the course of the weekend.
Mudgee Tennis Club’s Edwina Gordon said said the latest running of the event is set to continue the rich tradition which has seen the best players in the region turn out.
“The Club Championships have long been a tradition for the Club, running for over 100 years,” Gordon said.
“The walls of the Club House are covered with gold-lettered wooden boards displaying the Club Champions for almost all the years since 1912.
“Players must be Mudgee District Tennis Club members to enter the Club Championships and may register as a team or individually.
Players that register individually will be matched with a team member.”
Gordon urged not only players to get involved with the two day’s of action on the court saying the event is a family affair.
“The Club Championships are also a social event and a barbecue lunch and children’s activities will be available,” she said.
“Anyone, whether a member of the Club or not, is welcome to come down during the day and watch some quality tennis.”
The registration fee will be $20 per person and registration closes on 15 May 2015.
