This year, MDSS will present their own interpretation of Annie, with the support of a local organisations and businesses.
More than 60 people are involved in the production on and off the stage, making it MDSS's largest performance to date.
“We love getting as many people involved as possible to create a community event that includes people from all walks of life,” director Ingrid Puxty said.
Last year's production of Mary Poppins, had two sell out shows and showed that people with disabilities are capable of putting on high quality productions.
“Not only is it a great performance opportunity for the kids, but it opens them up to a world free of prejudice.”
“Our clients are involved in the entire creative process from script writing, props making and design, make up design, sound engineering and bringing their personalities into their characters,” Mrs Puxty said.
“This is what makes our productions so special. From day one, everyone has a say in the direction of the play. This can make for interesting story telling.”
While the aim of the cast and crew is to produce a well-rehearsed show, Mrs Puxty said there was no predicting what would actually happen on the night.
“Our audience loves when things go wrong and our cast completely goes off script. There will definitely be moments of unpredictable chaos,” she said.
As well as featuring all of Annie's beloved songs, the production will also feature Mudgee's 1929 town song, Down by the Cudgegong.
Annie will star students from Stepping Out in Mudgee, clients from the MDSS Dramability group and local MPAS performers.
“We’re honoured to once again be involved,” actor and Stepping Out in Mudgee director, Tyrolin Puxty said.
“Not only is it a great performance opportunity for the kids, but it opens them up to a world free of prejudice.”
Annie will be performed at the Town Hall Theatre on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19.
Tickets can be booked online via the Mudgee Disability Support Service Facebook page, or by calling 6372 3848.
