The biennial awards, hosted by the Rotary Club of Mudgee Sunrise and Mudgee Chamber of Commerce, donate funds to a deserving local not-for-profit organisation. Lifeskills acting CEO Jeannette Mangan said funding will go towards shade sails and other enhancements within the sensory garden.
“We’re thrilled [to be this year’s beneficiaries],” Ms Mangan said.
Rotary Club Of Mudgee Sunrise members Jenny Dowdy and Carol Cockerill-Wright said the committee was in the process of settling on a decision when they saw an article in the Mudgee Guardian about the community centre.
Stage two of the Lifeskills Community Centre, including a sensory room, community and function room, is planned to start in the coming months.
Nominations for People’s Choice in the 2016 Mudgee Clock Awards close July 22 with winners announced at a gala evening at Parklands Resort on Friday, August 19.
