The forum will give young people a say on the council’s youth strategy, which could influence future planning and funding decisions.
Cr Russell Holden put forward the concept to give the region’s youth a platform to discuss activities, education and employment and strategies to keep youth in the region.
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (2011 Census), 26.78 per cent of the region’s population are aged 19 years or under.
Apart from the Region Youth Council, this is the first time in recent years that young people have had an opportunity to speak publicly about issues that concern them.
The purpose of the forum is to begin development of a new ten year Youth Strategy for the region.
The Youth Forum will be held on Monday 5th December from 6.00pm at the Mudgee Town Hall Theatre.
