The Van, which offers free mammograms for women over 40, has been at the Mudgee Showground since the start of November.
BreastScreen NSW Health Promotion Officer, Gillian MacSmith said the Van has been very popular again this year.
“Women often put it off due to being busy with other commitments, however getting a mammogram is one of the most important things a woman can do to safeguard their health.”
“The majority of breast cancers are diagnosed in women with no family history, so it’s absolutely vital that all women aged 50-74 receive their regular two-yearly mammogram.”
The Van arrived shortly after Pink Up Mudgee wrapped up at the end of October.
The month long event – turned shops and businesses in Mudgee pink – to raise awareness and funds for the McGrath foundation.
“The Mudgee community has been fantastic in supporting the BreastScreen service with many businesses around town helping to spread the word by displaying posters in their window and handing out flyers,” Mrs MacSmith said.
