We’re also continue to develop our website – mudgeeguardian.com.au – with relevant up-to-date news for the region on a daily bases.
And our team has been through some major changes – from sales to reporters. So for the next few editions, we’ll introduce you to the team. First up is our newest reporter Isaac, who moved to Mudgee at the end of last year after finishing university.
Why the Mudgee region?
I’ve always loved the country, having lived in Comboyne in Northern NSW, and Mudgee was a great opportunity to go back to it and get another spell away from the big cities and the constant hustle and bustle on the coast.
How long have you been in the region?
I moved here from Newcastle just over a month ago, and have been settling into the rhythm of the town ever since and getting to know what has changed around Mudgee.
What are your favourite things to do on the weekend?
They’re so many amazing places to just hang out on the weekend in this weather, so I like taking walks out around Mudgee, or recently I’ve driven to Gulgong and just visited a few of the pubs there and had a bit of a lazy afternoon at the park there. On the hottest days, I spend a fair bit of time swimming too.
Favourite thing about working at the Guardian?
The chance to see the inner workings of the town through people, sport and events is an amazing experience, and meeting new people and hearing their passions and stories makes every day unique.
Favourite memory of the region?
Coming to visit my grandparents and family here in Mudgee was always a great holiday, and evening walks out to the vineyards is my favourite memory, partly because it was just a great chance to catch up with people I hadn’t seen in a while.
What do you do at the Guardian?
My responsibilities are writing articles, mostly covering the sports section with matches of cricket, rugby league, union and more, as well as interesting community stories.
