As well as stalwarts Peter Sterling and Ken Sutcliffe, the day is set to be a great one with celebrities like Malcolm Johnson, Jim Cassidy, Phil Kearns, and especially sports comedian Billy Birmingham.
“It’s fantastic to get Billy involved in the day, because when you bring him it’s like you’re bringing Richie Benaud, Bill Lawry and the entire Nine Network commentary team,” Sterling said.
“He’s seven people in one, and he’s really been looking forward to it for a while.”
Sterling also admitted he loves coming to Mudgee because of all the people he knows in the area, and the chance to have a 'mini-getaway'.
“The easy-going nature of the place makes it amazing and all the folks are really good,” he said.
“Mudgee has been extremely supportive of this event that we run since day one and that’s been great and it’s been really good.
“I’m an old Wagga boy and it just reminds me of that so I think that the casual and easygoing nature makes it very easy to relax, which is sometimes hard to with everything that I’m involved in.”
The day kicks off earlier than usual this year, with the Big Sports Breakfast arriving for a 7.30am event at the Golf Course to kick off what could be described as a super sport weekend for the town.
“It’s great that we have that new factor at the start of the day, instead of just teeing off at 11am we now get to mingle and have another aspect of the event,” Sterling said.
After the Big Breakfast the muster for the day begins at 10am, with play starting at 11am.
If you are interested in participating in the day, both players and celebrities will be at the course during the day, finishing up at 5pm.
