The company parkrun ask organisers to run ‘trial weekends’ before implementing the weekly meetings, and now the real event in Mudgee has officially kicked off.
229 runners and joggers turned up to the first run, ranging from club-sponsored competitors like Matt Webster – who recorded the fastest time at the event – to socialites who were keen on some weekend fun.
The reaction to the event was positive, with many runners taking to social media to share their enjoyment.
“Well played Mudgee! Fantastic numbers for your first run,” Carolyn Tink commented on Mudgee Parkrun’s Facebook post.
“Thanks for all the hard work and dedication behind the scenes to make this a reality, very appreciated,” Mark Hoare also posted.
The first event overall was a success, and the second ‘Parkrun’ will kick off Saturday morning, from 8am at Lawson Park.
