Many animals are terrified by fireworks displays which can indirectly pose risks to animal safety.
Mid-Western Regional Council Rangers encourage residents to:
- keep your companion animal in a safe place indoors with a radio or television on at normal volume
- resist taking your pet to the fireworks
- not to leave pets outside unattended, even in a fenced yard or on a chain as they may panic, escape, get lost or injured if they become entangled in the chain
