Kandos Tiaratahs played their first local game at Waratah Park this weekend, playing Round 2 of the 2017 New Era Cup. Clare Warton from the Tiaratahs was quick to score in the first quarter. Clare scored again after a penalty gave the Tiaratahs the ball at the ten metre mark. Maddison Donnelly got lucky and tapped in the Villegettes first try less than a meter from the try line.

Close to half-time, Emma Ashford broke free from the Vilagettes and made an impressive dash from the 50m line to score the Tiaratahs third try.
In the second-half, Alex Khinichi kicked a risky grubber into the in-goal area which Ebaney Pateman pounced on, securing the Tiaratahs fourth try.
Villagettes, Kirsten Peel, secured their second try by breaking the Tiaratahs defensive line and running 90m before scoring. The Tiaratahs secured the win against Bathurst team, Villagettes, 18-12. Tiaratahs coach, Glenn Osgood, said that the Tiaratahs showed “really good defence, line speed and one-on-one defence. They controlled the play and the ball much better.”
The Waratahs were not so lucky, playing their first game of the season against the defending premieres, Bathurst Villages Unites. The Waratahs lost 54-18.
