The Rylstone-Kandos Rotary Club have celebrated the induction of their new President, Amanda Roach. Local dignitaries, including State Member for Bathurst, Paul Toole, Mid-Western Regional Councillor, Esme Martens and Reverend Michael Sutton attended the prestigious event, which also including Rotary International representatives, Governor Gerard McMillian.

After her induction, Amanda stated that she was eager to take on the position and that she is “looking forward to a very successful future for the Club that serves our community well.
In the past year, there has been some review and restructure of our processes and planning into the future. There will be some new projects picked up, such as ‘Books for Babies’ that was discontinued when Inner Wheel disbanded.”
Long-term American Youth Exchange Student, Sophie McCormick, spoke at the event about her recent trip around eastern and central Australia, and short-term New Zealand Youth Exchange Student, Jake Hellawell, and outbound local Exchange Student, Brodie Mundey, were presented with their official Rotary caps and certificates.
The Rylstone-Kandos Rotary Club have also been awarded with the ‘Shirley Stanley and Ted and Ann Lewis Award’ in recognition of their services to youth.
The well-earned award comes after years of successful International Exchange Programs and Rotary Youth Enrichment Programs.
More recently, several Kandos High School students were sponsored to attend the Rotary Youth Enrichment Program, with students attending the Honeywell Engineering Summer School and the Canberra Youth Science Forum.
