Parents and carers will be able to access free safety checks for child car seats in Mudgee later this month under a program being run by Roads and Maritime Services.

Member for Dubbo Troy Grant said Roads and Maritime will have qualified specialists on hand to carry out complimentary child restraint checks between 10am and 1pm on Wednesday 23 August at the Mudgee Playgroup Hall Carpark on Madeira Road.
“Local authorised restraint fitters will carry out free checks and provide advice to parents and carers,” Mr Grant said.
“An unrestrained child can sustain devastating injuries in the event of a crash, or even sudden braking, if a restraint is incorrectly fitted.
“Research shows that two out of three child restraints are not being used properly.
“Information will be available about the national child restraint laws and the types of restraints approved for use in Australia. Advice on moving children from one restraint type to the next will also be available.”
