Three of the Central District awards have made their way to Gulgong, and into the arms of some of the leading figures in the racing community coming from the town.
The first award was presented to Brett Thompson, taking out the Trainers Award for the fifth time.
His apprentice jockey, Jake Pracey-Holmes, and often partner-in-crime for many races around the region, took out the Leading Apprentice award for the second time since beginning his career.
Finally, Thompson’s ‘Slate on Edge’, owned by Greg and Debbie Hundy and Norm Stein, won the Horse of the Year to round out the trifecta of awards presented on the day.
The awards were presented by racing association secretary, and race caller, Col Hodges at the Gulgong Turf Club after Desert Marshal won the Gulgong Gold Cup.
