
A recent audit of kerbside collection across the Mid-Western region has revealed the average recycling bin was made up of 10 per cent general waste that can lead to the rejection of an entire truck load of recycling.

Council stated, “In recent weeks garden organics, ashes from fires, gas bottles, used nappies, medical waste and even dog faeces have been found in recycling bins upon collection”.
“Please remember to only place recyclables in your recycling bin,” the statement continued.
What Can I put in my Waste and Recycling Bins?
Examples of items that are recyclable include:
- aluminium and steel tins/cans.
- aerosol cans.
- glass bottles and jars.
- plastic soft-drink and water bottles.
- plastic food containers, tubs and trays.
- juice and milk cartons and bottles.
- 'Tetra pak' drink containers.

Three Bin System
Residents will need to separate their waste and recycling into three streams;
Garbage – This will continue to be a weekly collection using your existing waste bin.
Paper and Cardboard – This will be a fortnightly collection. Paper and cardboard will be placed in the bin with a blue lid.
Other recycling - This will be a fortnightly collection. The other mixed recyclables will be placed in the bin with a yellow lid.
