Held over the weekend of October 7-8 in a private garden within Rosby vineyard, Paul Selwood, one of Australia's finest abstract sculptors will officially open the exhibition.
Works by some of Australia’s most recognised artists will be on display including Mark Titmarsh, VIVID exhibitor Alan Rose, Sculpture By The Sea exhibitors Paul Selwood, John Fitzmaurice and Hui Selwood as well as local artist and former Sculpture By The Sea exhibitor Nigel White.
Artistic director Kay Norton-Knights says Sculptures in the Garden provides visitors and locals the opportunity to immerse themselves in fascinating works of art amongst the picturesque Mudgee scenery.
“Sculptures in the Garden 2017 is set in beautiful rural surroundings with an exquisite curated collection of artworks on display. We anticipate more than 3,000 visits at the exhibition over the weekend, giving artists a huge exposure,” she said.
A key highlight during the exhibition will be a discussion panel hosted by Nick Lowther, Chief of Staff at ABC Dubbo taking a seat with Paul and Nigel White, discussing how public art can shape a country town.
Other highlights on this year’s program include live music in the garden from Matt Boylan-Smith, garden walks, art tours, Guide Dog puppy demonstrations, Rosby Wine Bar, and the return of the popular Kids Sculpture exhibition.
Cara George, CEO Mudgee Region Tourism says, “We are thrilled to welcome Sculptures in the Garden back to Mudgee for the seventh year in a row.
“The exhibition is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the very best from local artists whilst visitors indulge in Mudgee’s finest food, drink and vineyard views,” she said.
Proceeds from the weekend exhibition go towards a local arts initiative to create a public art sculpture walk in Mudgee’s Lawson Park with gate and catering revenue going to the Mudgee Support Group of Guide Dogs NSW/ACT.
