Friends, family and locals gathered at Mudgee Racecourse on Friday morning to celebrate the life of Robert (Robbie) John Gillham.
The ceremony, which was filled with laughter, tears and applause, saw Robbie’s son Harry take the stage to express his appreciation for his late father.
After opening with a joke, Harry explained the values and lessons his dad taught him and how he always made time for his family and friends.
He recounted the last piece of advice he received from his dad, “make the most of every opportunity you get”.
Not only was he a family man, Robbie was a tower of strength for his beloved Mudgee Dragons over an extended period.
The Group 10 club acknowledged that on Friday, with members arriving at the ceremony wearing club colours – red and white – showing their appreciation for all Robbie did for their club and for the community.
Once the service concluded, guests formed a guard of honour and applauded as Robbie was farewelled for the last time.
