Today, it has two dogs and five cats – which is a great number.
“Our goal is to have an empty pound,” said council ranger Nathan Dwight.
“Before Christmas it was much busier but we would still like to find homes for the animals we have here.”
If you head down to the pound to look for a potential family member, don’t expect to see just cats and dogs because a peacock is in the building.
Contrary to many beliefs, a peacock makes a great companion and this one is ready for a new home.
If you’re interested in a peacock, cat or dog, contact the council.
