In a recent report by Deloitte, the 2011 Census found that 47 per cent of graduates from IT courses work in other occupations spanning a range of industries including advertising, marketing, engineering, accounting, bookkeepers and other professionals.

TAFE NSW is offering a range of Microsoft short courses.

TAFE NSW ICT teacher, Roxanne Streatfield, said, “digital technology and digital disruption continues to be on the rise, which means that business owners, tradesman and professionals need to ensure that they’re job ready with practical IT skills”.

“We understand that not everyone is computer savvy, so the Microsoft short courses are an introduction into the most popular programs. Students can choose from a number of courses, which teach everything from the basics of Word, Excel and PowerPoint to using Access for database management. Students gain a thorough understanding through hands-on learning ensuring they‘ve got the skills to get job, run their business and be in control of their future.”

By reskilling and upskilling, small business owners and professionals will ensure that they and keep up with the latest technologies and also stay ahead of the constantly changing digital landscape, especially as nearly one in two Australians now have both a computer and tablet.

Roxanne Streatfield said enrolments were now open for courses on Microsoft products that employers’ recognise at TAFE NSW, including Intermediate Excel, Intermediate Word and a Statement of Attainment in Advanced Skills in Microsoft Applications.
