Member for Dubbo Troy Grant said the purpose-built facility, to be built at the Rotary Park on Nandoura Street, will include interactive play equipment, shelters, landscaping, picnic tables, a youth hub with wi-fi and an upgrade to the existing skate park.

“Our Government is delighted to partner with Mid-Western Regional Council to deliver this great new project that will benefit the Gulgong community for decades to come,” Mr Grant said.

“It will be a welcome addition to the range of recreation facilities available for local children and young people.”

Minister for Racing Paul Toole, said the project is funded through the Clubgrants Category 3 infrastructure grants program.

“Over $50 million in Clubgrants infrastructure funding is being provided in the current term of government for projects across sport and recreation, emergency preparedness, and arts and culture,” Mr Toole said.

“These grants are funded through a rebate on the state’s registered clubs’ gaming machines to reinvest profits back into community projects.

“We improved the program in 2017 by giving community organisations more chances to apply for a wider range of projects.

“New funding ranges are encouraging more diverse projects, and a streamlined application process is cutting red tape and allowing for faster assessment.”

Several local groups were also presented with funding under the 2017 Community Building Partnership Grants program. Which supports community infrastructure projects that; deliver positive social, environmental, and recreational outcomes; and promote community participation, inclusion and cohesion.

The Cudgegong Cruisers received $20,000 to fund an extension to their clubhouse and add accessible facilities. The Gulgong CWA received $13,090 to paint the exterior of their hall. And the Gulgong Show Society was given $2,626 for repairs and additions to their animal nursery yards.
