Mudgee Babes and Picnics ambassadors Cass McGoldrick, Georgina Pritchard and Emily Carr established the new group after having trouble fitting in with other already groups in town.
The Babes and Picnics group meets at the Lawson Park playground once a month for a few hours. The children are able to play, while their parents enjoy a coffee and a chat.
“It’s a way to meet some new mum’s and feel included in the community. It’s a new group, with new people meeting each other and forming new friendships.
“No one really knows each other too well yet, we are all just meeting each other,” Ms Goldrick said.
“There are no costs, no sign ups and no registration, parents and their children can just come along.”
While the group had only had mother’s and their children attend so far, fathers were also welcome at the monthly catch-up.
The organisers said the monthly meeting was always a Friday at 9.30am, but the date would change each month to best suit the parent’s that were going to come along.
During their April meeting the woman also collected for Share the Dignity, an Australian charity that brings dignity to homeless, at risk and those experiencing domestic violence through the distribution of sanitary items and funding of funerals.
The mothers brought along sanitary items that would then be dropped off at Mudgee Radiology, the drop-off point for the Share the Dignity Charity in Mudgee.
“We have a box to take of pads and tampons for those woman in need who can’t afford to buy those items for themselves.”
Nationally Babes and Picnics was established in 2016 as a way to bring mums and their babies together once a month for a picnic style gathering. The purpose of the gathering was to support, connect and give back with a business or local organisation or charity chosen for each picnic.
Anyone wanting to come along to the May Babes and Picnics event can contact the ambassadors via the Facebook page or email mudgee@babesandpicnics.com.
