Anzac Day 2018 marks the 103^rd anniversary of the landing at Anzac Cove and is an important day for communities to gather to commemorate our service men and women.

I have the unique opportunity to spend this Anzac day trekking the Kokoda trail.

It will be an honour to walk in the footsteps of those who sacrificed so much for the freedom we all enjoy today.

This week I have sent out to everyone across the electorate an Anzac booklet recognising the significant contribution and sacrifice those from our region made all those years ago.

Anzac day is one of the best days we can honour the memory of our military’s men and woman, from all wars and conflicts, who’s efforts and sacrifices have secured the future and safety of this great country.

I would also like to encourage local veterans groups and community organisations to apply for the latest round of the Community War Memorials Fund (CWMF), which provides grants of up to $10,000 to protect, conserve and repair war memorials, statues, honour rolls and memorial halls.

Applications close on Anzac Day 2018. I encourage anyone in the local community who believes their memorial needs conservation or protection to apply.

Mudgee RSL Sub Branch will be holding their ANZAC Day dawn service at the Cenotaph in Robertson Park Mudgee, commencing at 6am. All welcome.

Upon completion the returned and serving men and women will march back to Club Mudgee (Mudgee Soldiers Club).

The main march will muster outside Club Mudgee (Mudgee Soldiers Club) from 10am stepping off at 10.40am. The main service will commence at the Rotunda at 11am.

A luncheon for RSL members and their invited guests will be held at Club Mudgee.
