On Monday, he forked out $15 for a new rod and went on a mission to catch the same fish that snatched his old rod off him.
As it turned out, William hooked the culprit.
“It took my rod off the bank so I went back the next day to try and get him again,” he said.
Stoffers is a frequent fisherman and even though he’s caught some big ones in his day, this carp takes the cake.
“That’s the biggest I’ve caught. That’s my record.”
William’s two older brothers are adamant they aren’t jealous but when your younger sibling hooks a fish like this, how could you not be? “They’re definitely jealous,” William’s father Norman laughed.
Don’t worry, boys… there’s plenty more fish in the sea.”
The Mudgee Guardian encourages any fisherman to come forward with their catches.
