April 3, 1970 was the inauguration of the Mudgee Day View Club and this year we celebrate 48 years of raising money and supplying reading rugs and mats and sponsoring children for a better life and education in Australia. I reported earlier in the year we have now sponsored 14 students and hopefully this year that will increase with the hard work all the ladies do.

Our special guest was Jess Holland who entertained us all with a collection of her wonderful songs, some she wrote herself and others that were poems set to music, and a history of her life in Mudgee and her achievements, which was varied and really interesting.
We had a special 48 year Birthday cake made for the occasion. It was cut by three nonagenarians, Bonnie Campbell from Chatswood, Pat Sutcliffe and Joyce Sutherland. The raffle had three draws. first Robin Chapman, second Berryl Bassingthwaite, third Anne Bolton (who donated it back for another draw) and was won by Anne Rothe.
The next meeting/luncheon will be on May 4 and we will celebrate Mother's Day so come along and bring a friend or friends and enjoy a lovely day and learn more about View and how to help disadvantaged children in Australia.
