There were around 700 delegates from all around the world registered. Not only was the turnout of potters great so too was the weather.
Beautiful sunny days welcomed the potters to Red Hill each morning where world renowned Potting Masters demonstrated their skills under the marquees. They also had lectures at several venues around town including the Prince of Wales Opera House and the Masonic Hall.
Each evening the Hotels in town through open their doors and welcomed the potters with food and entertainment. During the week our own Chester Nealie and Jan Irvine-Nealie opened their exhibition in the little room opposite the Prince of Wales Hotel.
Not only did Chester have his beautiful pots on show Jan had her new love of painting on canvas on show. Jan is best known for her textile and needlework with a piece of her art hanging in the National Gallery.
Many of the delegates brought their own work which was put on display at the Memorial Hall for sale. There was a great variety of pieces on show from traditional to very artistic.
I spoke to some of the delegates in the Hall and they were very happy with the exhibition having sold most of their pieces. The event ended on Saturday night with a dinner and dancing under the stars. All in all it was an exceptional week with our beautiful little town being on display to the world.
