Kicking off the special event will be Jane Harper, talking about her latest novel Force of Nature.
Mudgee Readers Festival general manager Portia Lindsay anticipates this session will be in-demand, as Force of Nature and Harper’s first novel The Dry have been hugely popular with book clubs at the Mid-Western Regional Library and with the avid readers on the Readers’ Festival team.
This year the Sydney Writers’ Festival theme is Power, so there are plenty of global and political discussions, including The Future of China, Going Rogue: North Korea, New Power, Resisting Unjust Authority, Economic Inequality: From Wisconsin to Whyalla.
Sydney Writers’ Festival speakers include Peter Greste, Gareth Evans, Masha Gessen, Linda Jaivin and Kerry O’Brien.
Annabel Crabb’s BooKwiz will provide plenty of laughs on Saturday afternoon, as the beloved journalist interrogates well-known readers Leigh Sales, Richard Fidler and the RocKwiz host herself Julia Zemiro.
For a change of pace on Sunday, poet and artist Cleo Wade leads a riveting and wide-ranging discussion about matters of the heart, and Sarah Ferguson and Louise Adler will reflect on the complex bonds shared between mothers and daughters.
Entry to all sessions is by gold coin donation with the proceeds going towards the Mudgee Readers’ Festival.
The festival will be held on the weekend of August 10 to 12 with Mudgee to host a brilliant and diverse group of writers with stories to share.
Donations will also go towards the first ever Mudgee Young Readers’ Festival which will be held on Friday, August 11, with special family events across the main readers festival weekend.
